It was on March 1966 when Steve Van Doren manufactured the first Vans shoes in a small locally owned store in Anaheim, California known then as the Van Doren Rubber Company. They sold 12 pairs on the same day, in what is now known as the Authentics.

From then on out, time and time again, Vans has proven that it is not only here to stay but remains as a force to be reckoned with.

From Cali to MNL, below are the new drops from Vans at 120 PEREA….

VANS ERA WINGTIP CA (cement/marshmallow canvas/suede)
Vans #95 now known as the Era, designed by Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta mashed-up with wingtips from the Rat Pack. Classic.

VANS ZAPATO DEL BARCO CA (black nubuck)
Vans’ interpretation of the boat shoe has been killing it….cause it works all the time. Enough said.

VANS HALF CAB PRO (Black/ Supertuff Suede)
The Vans Half Cab was Steve Caballero’s second signature shoe from Vans in 1991. After he’d see skaters cut his first signature shoe in half to make it a mid top sneaker instead, he decided to try it out, pitched it to Vans, leading to the Vans Style 33, or the Half Cab. The Caballero patch was replaced with the words Half Cab and a picture of Steve performing the half cab. A piece of history in one iconic shoe, eh.

The television is such a powerful medium. It has the capacity to influence people’s emotions and perspectives. Last Monday was too much of a hostage negotiation gone mad. People had their own take on why it happened and how it could be avoided. Tuesday was major….major, a good vibe to slowly recuperate from that dreaded situation we all witnessed on television the day before.

Hope comes in different things indeed, through humor….

and anything else for that matter. No doubt, we will rise from all this.

One thing’s for sure. Next time, let’s all come together. Chill. Remove all the ego and fix the situation. Pretty much applies to all things.

Last week’s recap starts with Play Tuesdays at it again at Attica, every Tuesday. So check out that sticky-icky from DJ’s Arbie Won and Mars Miranda on the 1’s and 2’s for tomorrow’s Play Tuesday.

And the week ended with us thinking of hooking up with Kirk Long for a shooting clinic. With most of his 22 points from beyond the arc in Ateneo’s win against La Salle yesterday, he might be the key to our big league dreams. Just in case we might need it in the future. Village league, pick-up games or what not. We try to give our best 110% of the time. Who knows, people might be watching. Well, at least we all dream big right.

KIKSTYO x NOTTI

You’ll know a KIKSTYO tee when you see it. It doesn’t take much to do a double take and a stare down when you have the words Japanese, sneakers, humor and girls in ~~one sentence~~ visual art form. So when KIKSTYO gathered a wide cross section of Japanese and international artists and designers to present their work unified under these common themes that KIKSTYO is known for, our own kababayan, Edmund Mallari aka Notti got to work and sent in his own designs. The rest is his-story!

Right about now, he could very well be up there with the other Japanese artists (because we all know how enigmatic, and in other words, cool, the Japanese can be), or at the least, in the same sentence too as these featured artists and their exclusive works:
