Certainly, there are going to be times when you’ll just lack the motivation, lack the inspiration, lack the willingness to accomplish something, something that you have already envisioned but just dunno where to start to turn it into fruition…something like a writer’s block, a block that is either going to keep you in the right track through persistence or a block that’ll lead you to forget the reasons of starting a certain endeavor in the first place; consequently, putting all the vision to waste. This can be a result of failure, the inability to make something happen the first time, the second time, or the third time…And so you give up.
And then there comes Dr. Randy Pausch, the author of the book called The Last Lecture that I finished reading recently.
I cannot stress enough how passionate this person is. What better way to utilize the last few days of your life than by inspiring and motivating others to reach their childhood dreams. He mainly did all this as a message to his children, cause after all, he won’t be there in their formative years – during the crucial stages of their childhood.
Most people would much rather spend time with their families in their death beds days before their death. But this guy, he contributed something to the world, shared his life and how he managed to suck the marrow out of it.
Suck the marrow out of life = having a passion project. This has pretty much been my inspiration for putting up WYD with the Indioboy productions team.
By featuring people who have started something from the ground up, motivated to stick to the rudiments of the daily grind just to see the fruition of a certain vision; these certain people who have followed their gut and stood by it regardless of the adversities along the way, they become an instrument of change, an instrument of changing people’s perspectives…that if you want it really bad, and if you have what it takes (and you know you do), then make it happen.
I, myself, have learned a lot from ALL the people we featured. Through the stories and insights that they share, they provide refreshing perspectives to everyone. Hopefully, it will become an instrument of passion, change and transforming difference to society.
Sometimes we may lose track of what we really want to be and what we really want to become because of such external factors that pose as obstacles and hindrances along the way, external factors such as the status-quo…that this should be done this way, that way and no other way. Dare to think of out of the box ideas and.make.things.happen.
“Brick walls are there for a reason: they let us prove how badly we want things.” – Randy Pausch, talking about the struggles and failures he went through as a part of the Imagination team in Disney.
After all, this is how people become innovators, game-changers and transforming differences.
No matter what these external factors are, don’t let go of that dream. Don’t let go of that passion project.
And yeah, HAVE FUN while making it happen.
That passion project,
Julo
